Turning Point Australia (“us”, “our”, “we”, “TPAust”, “Turning Point”) is a not-for-profit organisation incorporated in New South Wales, Australia. It is regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and various electoral commissions in Australia and its States and Territories.
All donations to Turning Point Australia are used to maintain the organisation, develop activism and educational campaigns, and ensure compliance with our regulatory obligations.
General Donations
General Donations are donations made to Turning Point Australia that not specifically made as a political donation as defined in Australian or State legislation. These donations are used to maintain the organisations and engage in non-election campaigns. There are no additional obligations on these donations beyond those made to a non-charitable not-for-profit organisation in Australia.
Merchandise and Tickets are not Donations
For the avoidance of any doubt, unless otherwise specified, the purchase of tickets or any other merchandise through another website is not to be deemed as donations under this policy.
Turning Point Australia regularly sponsors and/or promotes tours and events. These tours and events are subject to the refund policies of the external event organiser and/or the ticketing companies through which the tickets were purchased. Purchases of tickets for these events are not considered donations and are not subject to this policy.
Political Donations
Political Donations are donations made to Turning Point Australia in it’s capacity as a third-party campaigner specifically designated to be used in an election. Based on the election in which Turning Point Australia is campaigning, your obligations for that donation are based on the Federal or State/Territory legislation regulating that election.
Turning Point Australia is not accepting any political donations for any Federal, State, Territory, or Local Government election, from any foreign donors as defined in section 287AA of the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918. Additionally, if any State or Territory legislation has a definition of foreign donor, political donations for that election will also not be accepted from any persons or organisations that meet that definition.
For the purposes of complying with electoral disclosure and reporting obligations, Turning Point Australia will need to collect details about the donor making the donation. This will typically include:
- Full legal name (as on the electoral roll)
- Enrolled address (for a natural persons)
- Contact details
- Verification of enrolment
- Incorporation address (for businesses and organisations)
- Any other details as required by Federal, State, or Territory legislation to allow us to comply with our obligations.
By making a political donation, you agree to provide us with any of the details we require in a timely manner upon request.
By making a political donation, you agree that all the information you provide us is accurate and without error, and that we are able to rely on it for the purposes of complying with our electoral obligations. If any of the information you provide us is incorrect, then you accept any and all liability arising from any failure by us in complying with any of our electoral obligations due to your erroneous information.
In the event that you make a political donation that we cannot verify can be made in compliance with the electoral requirements of that election, then you agree that we reserve the right to convert that political donation into a general donation. Upon doing this, we will inform you in writing so that you may be aware.
If we have any obligations under any legislation to inform you of any obligations you may have as a result of donating, we will meet these obligations. Otherwise, while we will endeavour to use our best efforts to inform you of any obligations you may have as a donor that may arise from making your political donation, you accept that it is your responsibility to ensure that you comply with all donor obligations and that you will not hold Turning Point Australia liable for failing to discharge or meet any of your obligations.
Donations are Non-Refundable
General donations and political donations are non-refundable. If you believe a donation was made in error or without your consent, please contact us in writing within two business days of the donation being made by email at contact@tpaust.com.au.
Privacy and Security
We respect your privacy and are committed to handling your personal information securely. Details of donors and of donations will not be shared with unrelated third parties except where legally required. For more information, refer to our Privacy Policy.

Political Donations – Federal Elections & Federal Referendums
All political donations made for a Federal Election, a Federal By-Election, Federal Referendums, or for Federal Third-Party campaigning, are governed by the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918 and associated legislation and are regulated by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC).
A donor who makes one or more political donations to Turning Point Australia for a Federal Election campaign, totalling more than $17,300 during a financial year, must lodge a donor disclosure return. Penalties apply for failing to lodge a return. For more information, please contact us or the AEC at www.aec.gov.au.
Turning Point Australia is not accepting any political donations from foreign donors of any amount or value for any Federal Election, either as a monetary gift or in-kind. A foreign donor is a person or entity that does not have a connection with Australia, such as a person who is not an Australian citizen or an entity that does not have a significant business presence in Australia. Section 287AA of the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918 defines the meaning of a foreign donor. By making a political donation to Turning Point Australia for a Federal Election or Federal Campaigning, you declare that you are not a foreign donor as defined in section 287AA of the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918.
