While we unequivocally condemn racial hatred and political violence, our submission raises serious concerns about the scope and structure of the Bill, including its impact on free political communication, civil liberties and democratic participation. We believe existing laws already provide strong protections against violence and intimidation, and that this legislation goes far beyond what is necessary.
