On Thursday 10 September, Turning Point Australia will host a peaceful gathering in Sydney to remember Charlie Kirk, one year after his death.

Charlie was killed on 10 September 2025 while speaking at Utah Valley University. He was just 31 years old. His death shocked people around the world, particularly those who had followed his work, heard him speak or shared the values he spent his public life defending.

One year on, this gathering is about more than remembering Charlie. It is an opportunity to stand together for the principles he believed were worth fighting for.

Charlie was a passionate defender of freedom of speech, open debate, faith, family and the right of people to hold and express their beliefs without fear.

He believed free speech had to extend to those with whom we disagree. Rather than retreating from difficult conversations, Charlie sought them out, particularly on university campuses, encouraging people to question ideas, challenge him and debate openly.

That commitment to conversation became one of the defining features of his public life.

Charlie also understood that freedom cannot simply be taken for granted. It survives when people are prepared to exercise it, defend it and have the courage to speak when remaining silent would be easier.

Standing for the Values Charlie Defended

On the first anniversary of his death, we will gather not only to remember Charlie, but to stand with him in what he was fighting for.

We will stand for the freedom to speak openly. For the right to question and debate. For faith and family. And for the courage to hold firm to your convictions, even when doing so is unpopular.

These are values that extend far beyond one person, one organisation or one country — and they remain just as important today.
