Turning Point Australia will officially launch its Victorian State Election campaign tonight in Melbourne, marking the beginning of what the organisation says will be its largest-ever state election campaign.
The campaign launch comes following the resignation of Premier Jacinta Allan, with Turning Point Australia warning Victorians that a change of leader does not represent a change of government.
National Director Joel Jammal said the change in leadership should not distract voters from the policies that have shaped Victoria over recent years.
“This is a rebrand. A new name or a new face doesn’t change the policies that have brought Victoria to where it is today,” Jammal said.
Tonight’s launch will unveil Turning Point Australia’s plans for the November election, with One Nation, the Libertarian Party, Family First and other centre-right parties set to attend.
Victorian Liberal Leader Jess Wilson has also been invited.
The event will include a live panel discussion and audience Q&A, giving Victorians the opportunity to hear directly from centre-right parties about their plans for the state.
Turning Point Australia says the election campaign will begin immediately, backed by a dedicated 15-person team and a growing Victorian operation.
According to Jammal, the organisation intends to focus on issues including government debt, cost of living, community safety, taxation and government accountability.
“We are not leaving anything on the field. We will be throwing everything we have at this election because Victoria matters; not just for Victorians, but for the future direction of the country.”
Turning Point Australia believes the Victorian election will have national significance, describing it as an important test ahead of future state and federal elections.
The organisation has also set an ambitious goal of training 10,000 volunteers to support campaigning across Victoria, seeking to build a grassroots campaign capable of competing with the infrastructure traditionally deployed by Labor and the union movement.
“The left and the unions understand the importance of grassroots campaigning. We’re stepping into that void because no one else is doing it on the right,” Jammal said.
Tonight’s campaign launch will take place at 6:00pm at Polish House Syrena in Melbourne, where Turning Point Australia will reveal more of its election projects and campaign strategy.
Jammal said the event is also about encouraging greater cooperation between parties seeking to change the government in November.
“We’re inviting the parties to front up, answer questions, explain their policies, and show Victorians how they intend to get the state back on track.”
Jammal said many Victorians have expressed frustration with rising taxes, pressures on businesses, public safety concerns and the broader direction of the state.
“A third of our audience comes from Victoria,” he said. “We’ve heard countless stories from people who feel they’re being forced to leave the state, businesses struggling under increasing taxes, families worried about community safety, and people who simply believe Victoria can do better.”
For Turning Point Australia, the resignation of Jacinta Allan is not the end of the campaign for political change; it is the beginning.
The organisation says it will campaign throughout the coming months to engage voters, train volunteers, scrutinise the government’s record and encourage Victorians to participate in the election.
It’s time for the centre-right to work together. It’s time to Fire the Victorian Liars.
