THIS CAMPAIGN HAS ENDED
The decision is happening now, not at the next election.
Send a message to the people choosing the LNP Senate team.
This Saturday 28 March, the Liberal National Party (LNP) State Council in Queensland will decide its Senate candidates for the next federal election.
With the Liberal/LNP vote declining, Queensland may only return one or two LNP Senators to Federal Parliament.
That means this internal party membership vote will determine who actually gets elected.
This is where the decision happens.
The Choice
At Turning Point Australia, we believe these positions should be held by genuine conservatives who represent the base of the LNP.
Right now, the first Senate position is held by Senator James McGrath.
He is being challenged by former Member for Petrie, Luke Howarth.
TPAUS is Backing Luke Howarth
There's a clear difference between the candidates. Here's our scorecard...
Senator James McGrath (The Moderate)
- Played a role in the Abbott leadership spill, backing Malcolm Turnbull
- LNP Conservatives blame him for Gerard Rennick's preselection defeat
- Long-time party insider and political operative who was sacked from Boris Johnson's office
- Involved in controversy over ‘dirt files’ on political opponents
- Associated with the moderate faction within the LNP
McGrath represents the internal, moderate direction many conservative voters are moving away from.
The Hon. Luke Howarth (The Conservative)
- Community-focused & Australia-First
- Held one of Queensland’s most marginal seats against Labor for years
- Helped remove Malcolm Turnbull
- Focused on growing conservative membership in the LNP and rebuilding the party base
- Backed Gerard Rennick for his preselection
- Does not support late-term abortion and supports protecting babies born alive
- Has supported LNP candidates broadly to help deliver a Liberal National government and remove Labor & Greens seats
- Believes in traditional Christian values
Howarth represents a centre-right, conservative & pro-freedom direction focused on reconnecting the party with voters.
